The Fourth Industrial Revolution

A historic event took place this weekend with the SpaceX Dragon launch. Going into orbit has become commonplace to the point where it doesn’t make headline news everytime it happens. However, this event felt more like the first launch than the 200th… and it was a first, for many reasons. One of the most significant being that it was the first private company to launch a man into orbit. This event has many significant and exciting implications for our nation’s future.

The SpaceX launch signifies a turning point in this country, bringing a historically government-controlled, funded and operated project into the private sector, ushering in a new era of innovation and creativity. Similar to what was done in response to COVID-19, the nation saw the power of private companies having the freedom to innovate and assist in times of crisis. In this case, we saw the private sector create the most brilliant rocket-ride that has ever taken place and a real plan to continue our exploration into new frontiers, thought to be an unachievable task. This begs the question, what’s next?
